About Fitness-Complete
Why this site exists
Starting a new sport is overwhelming. You don't know what you actually need versus what's just marketed at you, and most gear guides are either too generic to be useful or quietly written to push the highest-commission product. We built fitness-complete.com to cut through that noise.
How we research
Our primary sources are the Reddit communities r/fitness, r/beginnerfitness, r/xxfitness, r/running, r/homegym, r/pilates, r/amateur_boxing, and their sport-specific equivalents. These are places where real beginners ask real questions and experienced people give honest answers, including what they regret buying. We cross-reference everything with Amazon reviews, paying specific attention to the 3-star range where the honest tradeoffs show up.
We don't contact brands for samples. We don't run sponsored content. If a product gets recommended here it's because the community consensus and review data supports it.
How we make money
We earn affiliate commissions when you buy through our links. That is how we keep the site running. We participate in Amazon Associates US and programs through Impact.com and other affiliate networks. The commission rate is never why we recommend something. It's a tiebreaker at most, and even then only between two otherwise equal options. Our reputation depends on getting this right, and a bad recommendation that earns a 5% commission is a bad trade.
What we don't do
We don't recommend gear because a brand reached out. We don't write "10 best" listicles padded with mediocre picks. We don't include consumer electronics like headphones or smartwatches in sport-specific kits. These are personal decisions that have nothing to do with whether you're ready for the gym. Every product on this site has a specific reason it belongs there.
